This is the initiative of an intimate group of friends, native Dominican men, and women, former students of, the Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS). We want to ensure that the way forward for future prospects are simpler and smoother. We have combined our intellectual capital and drive to form a nonprofit for the purpose of assisting current high school students in need of that extra boost to get them to the next level.
Between the Spring and Summer of 1995 a group of young men and women, most with less than $100 to their name left their homes in search of higher education. They struggled, they starved, some froze in harsh winter conditions, they studied hard, they continued to move forward and they graduated. Today these students hold, PHD’s, MD’s, MBA’s, MS’s and BS degrees in a variety of fields.
These former students want to ensure that the way forward for future prospects are simpler and smoother. They came together to form a nonprofit that could assist current high school students in need of that extra boost to get them to the next level.
Our nonprofit Teuke Ouhayo, the kalinago words for Precious Portsmouth was created so that we can continue to provide educational assistance in the form of scholarships, books, technology, and mentors for new high school graduates. We know and truly believe that every student is a star and through your donation we can help them to soar to let their natural light shine.
